

{"id":2270,"date":"2017-01-29T15:49:27","date_gmt":"2017-01-29T07:49:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gfh-asia.org\/asia\/?p=2270"},"modified":"2024-09-05T12:53:33","modified_gmt":"2024-09-05T04:53:33","slug":"2016-progress-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gfh-asia.org\/asia\/2016-progress-report\/","title":{"rendered":"2024\/5 &#8211; E-x-p-a-n-s-i-o-n"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">When we founded <em>Global Flying Hospitals<\/em> over twenty years ago (in 2001) we thought everyone would fall in love with the plan to fly high-tech hospital aircraft to those in need, instead of the old model of flying medical professionals into developing countries and working in sub-standard facilities. It simply made good sense!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Since Then<\/strong><br \/>\nSince then, the world has become progressively worse. We all know that. And it will continue to do so as populations increase, pandemics emerge, water becomes scarce, political upheavals, wars, natural disasters &#8230; and growing medical needs explode.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BIG is NOT the Answer<\/strong><br \/>\nToday; the need for <em>Global Flying Hospitals<\/em> is even more crucial.\u00a0 Originally we were focused on acquiring a wide-bodied jet to refurbish.\u00a0 We mistakenly thought BIG was the answer. It\u2019s not!\u00a0 The huge, spiraling costs to refurbish and operate a wide-bodied jet into a hospital is simply ineffective nowadays.<\/p>\n<p>Add fuel, maintenance and operations \u2026 it became unworkable!\u00a0 Worse; it is totally useless in operating in and out of unprepared, unpaved runways, such as in the highlands of New Guinea \u2026 or SE Asia or Sth. American countries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reinventing the Future<\/strong><br \/>\nFinally, we realized the only way forward was via the \u201ccargo\u201d type aircraft, specifically built for unprepared runways, long distance, speed and able to carry heavy or large loads.\u00a0 These aircraft are able to ferry roll-on, roll-off, specially manufactured 21st Century mobile hospitals. Each clinic designed for a medical specialism as Dental, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, Surgical, Prosthetics etc.\u00a0 Even <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">isolation wards for disease and pandemics<\/span>! Once landed they can even be expanded and be self-sufficient in power, gases, water, filtration and sterile systems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Predicting GFH\u2019s future \u2026. by reinventing it!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We now have the new business model for humanitarian medical care!\u00a0 We are also working on securing our funding for the next years, with multi-country fundraising centers, engaging corporate and individual patrons and installing <em>Multiple Fundraising Pillars!<\/em>\u00a0 Old fund-raising methods have been shelved.<\/p>\n<p>With fast moving geo-political changes underway &#8211; and various regions becoming challenging &#8211; the Board has researched for the best regions for operational HUBS. This is the 2024 onwards plan: &#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em><strong>Global Flying Hospitals (Macau) Association<\/strong>,<\/em> (since 2009) The Board resolved to firmly stay in Macau as the Head Office and expand it to a fully functioning international charity H\/O.<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Global Flying Hospitals (Cambodia)<\/strong><\/em> &#8211; Phnom Penh has been selected as the most suitable base for our Manfacturing Plant, for our mobile clinics, expandable hospitals, emergency shelters and many other humanitarian products.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Global Flying Hospitals (Australia) Limited<\/em><\/strong> has been formed with a base in Cairns, to service both<a href=\"https:\/\/gfh-asia.org\/asia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/download.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2862 \" src=\"https:\/\/gfh-asia.org\/asia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/download-150x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"94\" height=\"94\" data-id=\"2862\" \/><\/a> rural and outback Australia and Sth. Pacific countries.
